Power Drunk Policemen Turn Onosa To A Shooting Range, Shot Three Dead

Three people were reportedly shot dead by trigger happy policemen attached to the Elemoro Police Station in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State.

According to an eye witness account, disclosed that pandemonium started as a result of power drunk personalities who were in a serious dispute over land ownership in Onosa Community. The dispute escalated as both parties sought for external support which led to the Police intervention that eventually resulted to loss of lives.

Unconfirmed reports revealed that, a trigger happy policeman opened fire at the scene of the incident which resulted to loss of life while people of the community took to the street to protest over the actions of the police.

One of the residents who was disturbed over the issue, stated that the Police should be upright in their constitutional responsibility of ensuring peace and order in the society and not intimidating and killing innocent citizens.

The Commissioner of Police has visited the scene to carry out through investigation towards preventing future reoccurrence and provide a lasting solution. While the trigger happy policemen involved in the incident were arrested for prosecution by the Police authorities.

Stakeholders in the Community were of the opinion that there was the need for the Police Service Commission to retrain their personnel in arms handling to prevent such reoccurrence in the future.
